Sorenson Language & Communications Center (SLCC) The SLCC will reflect
Gallaudet's ongoing commitment to academic excellence, and serve as a model
of the unique needs of deaf people. After many months of discussion among
deaf and hearing members of the campus community and architects, a
visu-centric concept was born. The concept was translated into the design of
a distinctive structure the clearly and unmistakably says: "This is a space
by and for deaf people." Constructing and equipping the SLCC will cost $28
million. TDR is pleased to announce it's partnership with the Washington DC
based architectural firm SmithGroup in designing all the technological
building requirements for the Gallaudet SLCC building project. TDR is
designing all the voice, data, wireless and audiovisual infrastructure
including all outside plant requirements. TDR's voice, data and audio visual
cable plant and equipment specifications will be released sometime this
spring. Under the direction, project management and guidance from Heery
International. The SmithGroup and TDR have now completed the final design
phases and all eagerly await the ground breaking ceremonies.
